The Hideaway Boulder

This impressive boulder is separate from the above areas. It is situated in trees about 50 metres directly uphill from the car park at the base of the old road. The easier lines take the shorter sidewalls of the boulder while the harder (project) lines take bold lines on the impending front face, spotters recommended! Problems are described left to right.

1. Hermit 6a (Font 6a+)* Dave MacLeod 2002
This problem climbs the shelf on the left wall of the boulder. Start at the base of the shelf and follow it to the arete which is climbed front on.

2. Arachnid 4c Dave MacLeod 2002
Sit start at the base of the shelf and climb the straightforward short groove.

3. Peep 5c (Font 5) Dave MacLeod 2002
Start on a slanting jug near the right end of the wall. Move up to two small crimps and make a long reach left to a sloper. Continue left and finish up the groove.

4. Project*
The thin crack on the left end of the front face.

5. Project**
The diagonal hint of a ramp running right across the face will be desperate and awesome but needs cleaning and cold weather.

6. Project***
The big super steep arete will make a classic problem at a hard grade.
