This
fine little Corbett lies SSW of the Rest and be Thankful pass, in the angle
between Glen Croe and Gleann Mor (Hell's Glen). The walk is up the grassy
north ridge, with the return the same way. Good views are to be had of the
Arrochar Alps and the Firth of Clyde to the south.
As described,
a useful walk for an afternoon or mid-summer's eve. About 500m down Gleann
Mor a Forestry road leaves the B828, with parking space at a gate. The
forest track leads to the forest and a fork; go left for 250m along the
road above Glen Croe to reach a white post. This marks a gap in a replanted
area, up which posts lead to a stile over the forestry fence and so to
the north ridge.
The only
potential problem on the ridge is a series of interesting crevasses, easily
visible unless covered in deep snow. The west flank of the ridge is scenic
with rocky crags dropping towards Gleann Mor, while the ridge itself is
broad and grassy higher up.
