Climb the awesome January Jigsaw in Glen Coe -

Atlantis, Oban
**

Opened: 2001
This new bouldering wall, built by local climbing enthusiasts, is housed in the modern sports complex near Oban's town centre. The complex itself is well lit and colourful, as is the small climbing wall. It's central location, next to the café within the centre, means climbers using the wall are on full public display. For those of us who have become used to climbing in dark corridors, this may come as a bit of a shock - but exhibitionists will love it!

The wall is hugely popular with kids and ideal really, as it is not too steep, or high, and there are plenty of colourful holds to choose from. For the more advanced climber, I'm sure some testing problems can be had if you are creative - though I would not say this is a serious training facility.
Overall verdict:
Given the small size of the wall and the array of bright holds, it is ideal for children or beginners.
How to get there:
By bus: National bus service (City Link) from Glasgow will take you to Oban Town Centre. A local bus service runs daily from Fort William to Oban town centre.
By train: Main train line from Glasgow takes you to Oban town centre.
By car: Coming in from the north (Fort William or Connell) a steep hill heads down to Oban's town centre. Half way down the hill you'll see the sign for the Atlantis Leisure centre and swimming pool. Coming in from the south (Lochgilphead) follow the road through the town centre, until you pick up signs for Atlantis Leisure centre.
