| Description: |
Guy has been climbing for ten years and over the last few he has been consistently putting up new routes in summer and winter both close to his home in North East and further afield in the northern Highlands and Cairngorms.
In winter notable first ascents include The Whip (VII,7) on Beinn a'Bhuird and Footloose (VII,8) on Lochnagar - both quality lines. His most impressive repeats to date include the superb Blood, Sweat & Frozen Tears and The Link (VIII,8). In summer he has left behind several excellent routes such as Fionn Grooves (E3) on Carnmore and Sunscream (E5) on Beinn Eighe.
Outwith Scotland he has also been busy adding several lines (up to f7a - trad) in Wadi Rum and has climbed fairly extensively in the Alps and Europe.
Guy's adventurous nature comes across in his climbing and despite having top-roped routes in the past he is very pro the ground-up, onsight ethic. His opinions ring loud believing "improvements in style are as important as grades themselves" - a statement which influences his own approach. Guy also believes in 'genuine' winter lines and hopes/believes "that there's more to the future than hard snowed-up ascents". |
| Finest Moment: |
"Successfully completing my first winter climb - a solo ascent of Mirror Gully (III) in the Cairngorms complete with straight picks in 80mph winds! That's when it all started." |
