| Description: |
Graham has been climbing for over 30 years, and has made the first ascent of hundreds of routes both in summer and winter.
He pioneered the new wave of winter climbing in the Southern Highlands in the 1980's producing such classic routes as Messiah, VII (7). His long association with Arran has been the source of both ethical controversy and a crop of outstanding rock climbs (Abraxas, E4 ; Skydiver, E3 ; Achilles, E5 ; etc.)
In recent years he has been the prime mover in the development of Eigg, Colonsay, Carra and the Mull of Kintyre. Perhaps most significantly, in the 90's, he initiated the development of the string of Hebridean islands to the south of Barra.
In partnership with Kev Howett, he produced such modern classics of Voyage of Faith, E3 ; Prophecy of Drowning, E3 and Barra Head Games, E3, which rank amongst the very best rock climbs in Scotland.
Although climbing less these days, his love affair with the Western Isles continues, with many more new routes still to come! |
