Name: Paul Tattersall
Age: 36
Occupation: Walking Guide/Climbing Instructor
Base: Gairloch, Ross-shire
Description: Paul grew up in Lancashire and later moved to Sheffield, both for university, and to be close to the Grit. Over the years, his climbing has taken him to many parts of the world - big walls in Greenland, road trips in Australia and the USA and to all corners of Europe.

Paul is a relative newcomer, having moved to Scotland in 1997 to settle at Melvaig near Gairloch. Doing new routes has always appealed to him so he was quick to see the new routing potential around Wester Ross.

Since '97 he has made numerous first ascents including GogMagog (E5 6a), Jetty Crag, Officer Jesus (E5 6a), Mungasdale, Clatterbridge (E5 6b), Reiff, Lifeline (E3 5c), Loch Tollaidh, Tatapult (E6 6b), An Fasgadh and Homosuperior (E5 6a) on Goat Crag.

He has also repeated numerous lines up to E6 in the surrounding area, the most difficult of which was Major Domo (E6 6b) at Gruinard. He on-sights up to E5 and has climbed The Nose (in Yosemite) in a day!

Together with Jim Buchanan he has produced some excellent phototopos (Wild West Topos) of the areas' crags to keep track of developments.

Finest Moment: Finest Moment: "First ever real climb - Jones's Route, Scafell, with three other schoolfriends, no harnesses and trainers. The exhilaration of leading (soloing on a rope) the very last pitch, the knife edge arete, lives with me still".
